From clinical standards to human resources, operations, finance, and innovation, this team works behind the scenes and alongside our homes to ensure we deliver safe, high-quality, and resident-centered care every day. Their collaborative leadership strengthens our staff, supports our residents, and helps our homes thrive.

Steve Scannell (he/him), MPA, MA, B.A.

Stewardship Advisor, High-Crest Solutions

Steve Scannell works alongside the Site Manager at a High-Crest managed site to provide oversight and support in governance, strategic and operational planning, quality management (including Accreditation planning), occupational health and safety, and overall operational stewardship for Glen Haven Manor.

Steve brings over a decade of administrative experience in the Municipal and Long-Term Care sectors in Nova Scotia. He holds a Master of Arts and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Dalhousie University. He has also completed a certification in Leadership (Dalhousie University).

He volunteers with the Cape George Heritage Museum. He is also a member of the NS LTC Quality Network.

In his free time, Steve enjoys travelling with his wife, Courtney, and spending time with their dogs on their Cape George property. He is also a part-time illustrator.

Angela Michaud (she/her), CPHR candidate

Director of Human Resources, High-Crest Enterprises

Angela Michaud is the Director of Human Resources at High-Crest, where she leads the development and implementation of strategic HR initiatives that support organizational growth, employee engagement, and a strong people-first culture. With over 20 years of experience in talent management, organizational development, and employee relations, she plays a key role in aligning people strategies with business goals.

Angela is known for her inclusive leadership style, her ability to build high-performing teams, and her commitment to fostering respectful and empowered workplaces. She has completed a certification in Leadership (Dalhousie University), as well as formal training in Human Resources Management (Captus Press), Labour Relations (Algonquin College), and Business Information Technology (NSCC). She is also a certified Private Investigator and trained internal investigator through Wicklander Zulawski Inc.

Angela’s commitment to professional development is evident through her continued training in areas such as conflict resolution, mental health first aid, online investigations, fraud detection, financial analytics, and psychological safety. She was a 2024 nominee for the Nova Scotia LTC Awards of Excellence in the category of “Cultural Harmony.”

Outside of work, Angela is a proud baseball fan, devoted to her family and fur babies. She’s also an unapologetic karaoke enthusiast, known to grab the mic and bring down the house with a 90s hip hop throwback (even if not quite on key).

Amanda MacDougall (she/her), BScN, RN

Director of Clinical Services, High-Crest Enterprises

Amanda MacDougall is the Director of Clinical Services at High-Crest Enterprises, where she leads the management of nursing and care services to incorporate clinical best practices into high quality, safe and appropriate care. In this role, she works closely with senior leadership to align clinical best practices with policy and procedures to guide staff in their daily practice and provision of care to residents and families.

Amanda is passionate about building a culture of care built on resident advocacy, informed decision making and honoring personhood to achieve individualized person-centered care.

Amanda graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She also holds a certificate in Leadership (Dalhousie University).

She has over 15 years experience as a Registered Nurse within her hometown province of Nova Scotia. Amanda has cared for Nova Scotians in a variety of both acute care and long term care settings but has been dedicated to LTC for the majority of her career.

Amanda serves as the chairperson of our Director of Care Committee that brings together the nursing leadership from across the organization for collaboration in a coordinated approach to ensuring compliance with clinical best practices, licensing and accreditation standards. Amanda is also a member of the NS LTC Quality Network. She was a 2024 nominee for the Nova Scotia LTC Awards of Excellence in the category of “Leading the Way.”

Outside of work Amanda enjoys being a homebody spending time with her family, dogs, and getting her hands dirty in her flower and vegetable gardens.

Leonard MacEachern (he/him), BBA

Director of Capital Projects, High-Crest Enterprises

Leonard MacEachern is the Director of Capital Projects at High-Crest Enterprises, where he leads the identification, funding, and execution of infrastructure initiatives across the organization. In this role, he works closely with facility administrators to assess and prioritize urgent capital needs, develops funding proposals for submission to the Department of Health and Wellness, and liaises directly with departmental infrastructure managers to advance High-Crest’s capital priorities.

Leonard engages engineering and architectural firms to lead the design and planning phases, oversees project implementation from start-up to completion, and manages budgets to ensure fiscal responsibility throughout. His role is central to driving facility improvements that enhance the care environment for residents and staff alike.

With over 32 years of management experience in the acute care sector as a Director of Operations, Leonard brings deep operational expertise to his role. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from St. Francis Xavier University and has completed extensive training in professional procurement.

Leonard has also contributed to various community and healthcare initiatives, serving on the Board of Directors for the St. Martha’s Hospital Foundation, as Chair of the St. Ninian Parish Council, and as a member of Nova Scotia Health Care Purchasing Ltd., among others.

Outside of work, Leonard enjoys staying active through fitness, hockey, and golf, and spending time in Belle Côte, a place close to his heart.

Lynn Chisholm (she/her), P.Dt.

Dietitian, High-Crest Enterprises

Lynn Chisholm is the Dietitian at High-Crest Enterprises, working closely with the High-Crest sites to support residents’ nutritional needs and quality of life. She partners with Dietary Supervisors to ensure meals are both nutritious and satisfying, while fostering positive, ongoing relationships with residents.

Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Consumer Studies and completed her Dietetic Internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. She is actively involved in the Multidisciplinary, IPAC, and Ethics committees. She has also completed a certification in Leadership (Dalhousie University).

Outside of work, Lynn enjoys family gatherings and playing pickleball.

Laurie Brown (she/her), Dip Rec, PMP (candidate)

Strategic Initiatives Coordinator, High-Crest Enterprises

Laurie Brown is the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator for High-Crest who leads and supports projects aligned with organizational and sector goals by coordinating teams, managing timelines, and using data to inform decisions. She balances big-picture thinking with attention to detail and fosters collaboration across departments and external partners. Her focus is on driving innovation and continuous improvement to enhance care quality, resident experience, and operational efficiency.

With 19 years of experience in long-term care as a Recreation Therapist and Director, Laurie brings a strong foundation in person-centered care and team leadership. Her background in sciences and recreation is complemented by a commitment to ongoing learning, currently pursuing her Project Management Professional certification at Dalhousie University this is in addition to obtaining a Certificate in Leadership (Dalhousie University). This education supports her recent involvement in new long-term care builds, where she has contributed to planning and implementation efforts over the past three years.

Laurie and her team were honored with the 2024 Leading the Way award from NHNSA for driving innovative recreation and care delivery. Her work focused on creating person-centered, engaging programs that enhance residents’ well-being and promote a compassionate, forward-thinking approach to long-term care.

Outside of work, Laurie has a deep love for the outdoors and adventure. When not cheering on her kids at their sports, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers. Laurie is also a passionate music enthusiast who loves attending concerts and is always ready to take on a music trivia challenge.
