Director of Care, Highland-Crest Home
Colette Stewart is the Director of Care at Highland-Crest Home, a 35-bed residential care facility. She is responsible for leading the nursing and care team. She oversees the delivery of resident-centered care, supports staff development, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Collette ensures that nursing staff deliver high-quality care by promoting best practices that prioritize residents’ preferences, needs, and safety.
Collette began her healthcare career in 2008 after earning her Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) certificate. She worked in the healthcare system for eight years before returning to school, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma from NSCC Pictou in 2016. She continued her clinical work at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital (SMRH) in the Progressive Care Unit until 2017, when she joined Highland Crest as an LPN and DOC Assistant. In 2022, she was promoted to Acting Director of Care, and in 2024, she assumed the full-time DOC role.
Collette actively contributes to the DOC Committee, Medication Management Committee, and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Committee. She also completed a certification in Leadership (Dalhousie University).
Outside of work, Collette finds joy in spending quality time with her grandchildren.
